The sharply tilting perspective and strong flat use of blue in the center of the canvas suggests that Le Liepvre had studied the retrospective exhibitions of Cezanne and van Gogh in Paris around 1906. He also may have had some contact with Matisse around 1910, if one considers the energetic effects of his flat surface colors.
