Print engraved by William Miller after a 1833 watercolor by J.M.W. Turner. Published in Edinburgh by Robert Cadell, and Hodgson, Boys and Graves, London. From Scott's Prose Works (1834-1836).
This print was engraved by William Miller after an 1833 watercolor made by J.M.W. Turner ("Rhymer's Glen, Abbotsford", in the collection of the National Gallery of Scotland). Turner sketched the scene from a visit to the estate of Sir Walter Scott on August 7 1831, in preparation for the illustration of Scott's "Poetical Works". The engravings were eventually used for Scott's "Prose Works", published by Robert Cadell between 1834 and 1836.
