Exhibition LabelThis charger is decorated with two large tree-peonies painted in famille rose enamels. The tree peonu bears the title of Hua Wang (King of Flowers) of Fu Kuei Hua (Flower of Riches and Honor), thus indicating the esteem in which it is held. It is looked upon as the flower of the Yang principle - that of brightness and masculinity. A building branch is occupied by two birds, and the design continues over the lower edge onto the back. This is typical of plates done during the Ch'ien Lung period.
