This charger is decorated with two large tree-peonies painted in famille rose enamels. The tree peony bears the title of Hua Wang (King of Flowers) of Fu Kuei Hua (Flowers of Riches and Honor), thus indicating the esteem in which it is held. It is looked upon as the flower of the Yang principle - that of brightness and masculinity. A building branch is occupied by two bids, and the design coninues over the lower edge onto the back. This is typical of plates done during the Ch'ien Lung period.
