The natural black line on the material is called "iron line." This adds to the beauty of the pair of horses. Turquoise was much favored by the Qing elite, although it was first used 5000 to 6000 years ago in China. Hubei and Shanxi are famous sources of turquoise. Turquoise is also found in other provinces such as Xinjiang, Anhui, Henan, and Yunnan.
