White jade such as this was much sought after and prompted the production of imitations in glass, which is nearly indistinguishable from jade, to appear in the market at the time. This candle holder is separated into six tiers with three dishes connected by two bamboo-shaped pieces. A gift bronze awl is inset into the center of the dish on the top. The composition of pure white nephrite, its polished surface, and elegant shape make this a highly valued artifact.
