Bears the inscription “Disegno Tratto dal Busto di mano di Michel’angiolo Bonarroti che essibava nel’accademia in via della Crocetta in Firenze nell’anno 1765” in later hand.
Created by a student at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence, this drawing is a study of the torso of the Laocoön. It was most likely copied from a cast of the sculpture, a common method for students to learn to draw.
