Samuel Black McCormick (1858–1928) was the ninth Chancellor (1904-1921) of the University of Pittsburgh. He oversaw the University officially change its name to the University of Pittsburgh and move from the North Side's Oberservatory Hill to Oakland. The move allowed the University to be surrounded by recreational and cultural activities fostered by the public opening of Schenley Park and the building of the Carnegie Library, Music Hall, and Museums.
