Linear view of skyline of Harrisburg with its government buildings, overlooking Susquehanna River and paddle wheel dredge in foreground.
"Dominated by its government buildings, Harrisburg, on the Susquehanna River, is the capital of Pennsylvania and the seat of Dauphin County. The boat in the foreground is a paddle-wheel dredge that removes culm, a combination of coal dust and coal refuse, from the shallow stream for industrial use." (D. Grafty, "Pennsylvania as Artists See it: The Gimbel PA Art Collection", 1948)
