Workman with protective goggles looking through wicket hole in furnace door, with 2 workers behind him.
"Due to the rugged character of the work and to the high temperature maintained in furnace interiors, deterioration of blast furnace linings progresses rapidly. The picture shows a workman with eyes protected by goggles from heat and glare looking through the wicket hole in the door of a furnace searching for worn places in the lining." (D. Grafty, "Pennsylvania as Artists See it: The Gimbel PA Art Collection", 1948)
