Two Amish farmers and their wives unloading produce for farmers market from their horse drawn blue carts.
"On market days farmers and their wives are out of bed before down to show their produce in carts for the long drive into the nearest town. Farmers' markets are a feature encouraged by many Pennsylvania organizations including the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society and the Pennsylvania State Grange. Everything from eggs to live stock is sold in these markets that constitute a folk meeting ground. Amish farmers and their carts are here featured." (D. Grafty, "Pennsylvania as Artists See it: The Gimbel PA Art Collection", 1948)
